Meet Amirsaman, a Data Scientist based in our Malaysia office who’s talented, has a big heart, and the brightest smile. One of his best achievements to date includes successfully implementing AI solutions for our global customers, in countries such as Brazil, Indonesia, and China. Get to know Amir a little better in this edition of ‘Voice of Averis’.
- Hi there! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Amirsaman, originally from Iran, but I’ve been living in Malaysia for the past 12 years. I studied at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and obtained a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. Then, I pursued a master’s in data science at University of Malaya. In my free time, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places.
- Can you tell us more about your home country?
Iran is rich in history, culture, amazing food, and scenery. It’s indeed a very beautiful country. I have a deep connection to my Iranian roots, even though I’ve been living in Malaysia for a significant part of my life.
- How long have you been in Averis and how has your journey been so far?
I’ve been with Averis for nearly 2 years as a Data Scientist. My journey has been fantastic, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with a supportive team. We get to work on challenging but also immensely rewarding projects that have offered valuable learning experiences.
- Do you recall your first day on the job? What was it like?
My first day of work was exciting. I felt welcomed by my new colleagues, setting a positive tone for my experience here.
- What do you think about the work culture here?
We have a dynamic team that values open communication and embraces diverse perspectives. We encourage creativity and often collaborate on projects to find the best solutions.
- What is your role in Averis and what do you do?
I’m working as a Data Scientist at Averis. My role involves developing and implementing AI solutions, and I’ve had the opportunity to work on projects in Brazil, Indonesia, and China.
- What would be your most memorable moment in Averis?
One of my most memorable moments at Averis was a business trip to Brazil. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to understand our customers’ needs better and strengthen our business relationships.
- What was your biggest achievement here in the company?
One of my proudest achievements at Averis has to be implementing AI solutions in multiple countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, and China. It’s been a rewarding and challenging experience.
- When you’re feeling down, how do you bring yourself back up?
When I’m feeling down, I remind myself of the amazing opportunities I’ve had, the support of my colleagues, and the chance to make a difference with AI solutions. What keeps me going is the drive to explore new opportunities that play a part in the company’s success.
- Any words of advice for those who want to start a career in this company? How about those who want to pursue their dream of working overseas?
I’d advise this: Be proactive and adaptable. Embrace change, learn from new experiences, and be open to diverse perspectives. Seek mentors, ask questions and never stop learning.
